Royals get an all-star game

So the Kansas City Royals have secured an all-star game between '10 and '14, provided they get their stadium renovations done. The Reds, on the other hand, have had a sparkly new stadium since '03 and, to my knowledge, are not even in competition for this venue. Anyone have any insights?
