I'm joking of course (mostly), but with his steal last night, Adam Dunn continued to match Brandon Phillips for the team lead in stolen bases with 6 each through 26 games. That puts him on pace for 37 steals. And given that he hasn't been caught yet (though I think Phillips' CS was a pick-off at first), Dunn has been the most successful base-stealer on the team. WTH?
And what a perfect situation in which to give Brad Salmon his big-league debut, eh? Zero pressure, kid, just get your feet wet and finish the ballgame.
Number 7!
ReplyDeleteConversely, Freel is tied for the lead in caught stealing.
Yeah, Freel has not had a very good season thus far. 0.250/0.327/0.307, 56% SB%. Eek. The slumps by Edwin and Ross have overshadowed it, but Freel's been really bad. Might be getting too much playing time...? -j
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. His last two at bats last night were good ones, but I think he needs a break. He's played in every game this season. The ones he hasn't started, he's finished.
