There are six games left in August, and then one final month to the season. Still lots of baseball to play. But the Reds are in a virtual tie for first place in the National League Central Division, and lead the wild card by 1.5 games. Booyeah!
Somebody pinch me! This is exciting.
It's getting really exciting at this point.
ReplyDeleteCall up Bailey...if he could make the difference between making/not making the the post season, it would be worth it.
I'm torn on this one. I previously had seen the expected innings for Bailey to top out at 150 innings, but recently Krivsky indicated that 130 was what they were shooting for. He's at that point right now...but they're now talking about letting him pitch through the playoffs. Honestly, if their plan was to shut him down at 130 innings, I think they should just shut him down. An arm like his is too valuable to risk.
ReplyDeleteBut if they're not going to do that, then yeah, bring him up and put him in the #5 starter slot. Machalak has done a better job than expected, but he's a time bomb waiting to go off. Better to use him as a lefty out of the pen and let Bailey have a go at major league pitching. He'll be up here next year anyway at this rate--I'm sure he'll at least start in AAA next season, and then get a mid-season call-up if he pitches well. -j
