Farewell to Hal McCoy

One of the better baseball writers I've had the pleasure of reading, even if I agree with him only about half the time, will be leaving us at the end of the season. And not by his choice.

We're down to John Fay and Mark Sheldon. Both great guys and good writers, but neither quite has Hal's creativity with the pen. We'll still get our Reds news. But the fewer reporters we have, the harder it will be to get something more than what is in the day's press releases, or what Dusty wants to talk about in his daily meeting.

This recession shit sucks.
